Ultrasound

In our practice we offer the following ultrasound examinations:

Ultrasound of the abdominal organs (abdominal sonography)

Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract

Ultrasound of the thyroid gland

Heart ultrasound (only Dr. Hylak – not covered by health insurance)

The ultrasound examination usually takes place while lying on your back or side. In contrast to X-rays, for example, ultrasound waves are considered to be absolutely harmless. Apart from the mechanical contact pressure during the examination, it is painless.

An ultrasound gel is used to establish uniform contact between the transducer and the surface of the body. The ultrasound device sends ultrasound waves into the tissue via the transducer. The waves are reflected back from the tissue to the transducer in the doctor’s hand with varying intensity depending on the tissue’s composition, and the image thus calculated is displayed on the monitor.

This examination can quickly provide us with a whole range of valuable information, but in some cases a CT or MRI examination is still indicated – the doctor decides on this.
