Services

We offer all general family doctor usual services, for more information please see the selection list.

CHECK UP

During a Check Up, you will be examined as a precaution without having to suffer from any illness or symptoms. In this way, health problems can be detected before they cause symptoms. Since the legislator has also recognized that preventive care makes sense, you will not incur any additional costs for the Check Up 35 (once between the ages of 18 and 35, then every 3 years) and the consultation for colorectal cancer screening (from the age of 50) if you have statutory health insurance – private health insurance companies also generally cover the Check Up services.

What does Check Up 35 include?

1. anamnesis: you discuss with us your previous illnesses and existing complaints, if any. We can also advise you individually regarding illnesses within your family and the resulting possible risks, your profession or other life circumstances/habits.
2. an individual physical examination including blood pressure measurement
3. during blood sampling, the following values are examined: blood lipids, fasting blood glucose and, if requested, a blood screening for hepatitis-B and hepatitis-C virus infections (only once possible).
4. urinalysis makes an important contribution to the (early) detection of kidney disease and possible other health problems.
5. we check on request your vaccination status (all recommended vaccinations including covid) together – please bring your vaccination card with you.

Further examinations such as extended laboratory tests, ultrasound, ECG, lung function, stress ECG can be booked on request as self-pay services.

What does the colorectal cancer screening consultation include?

Colorectal cancer screening is recommended from the age of 50, as precancerous colorectal lesions can be detected comparatively early and removed gently. For women, a preventive colonoscopy is covered as a health insurance benefit from the age of 55, for men from the age of 50 (every 10 years) – we recommend this examination. We will be happy to advise you and refer you to the appropriate specialist (gastroenterologist) if necessary. If a colonoscopy is not an option for you, you can have a stool test performed by us every year from the age of 50 to 55, and every 2 years from the age of 55. The test kit will be given to you at home and you will bring it back after the test.

BLOOD PRESSURE

To detect blood pressure irregularities or elevated blood pressure values, we are happy to measure your blood pressure in the practice. If the result is unclear, or in order to be able to exclude high blood pressure with certainty in the case of borderline findings, we carry out a continuous 24-hour blood pressure measurement. For this purpose, you will be given the device to take home and bring it back to the practice the following day.

ECG

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is often useful in cases of discomfort or pain in the chest area as well as irregular heartbeat. Here we gain a range of information immediately in the practice, which – sometimes supplemented by laboratory tests – can quickly provide clarity.

An exercise ECG, also known as ergometry, is necessary in certain situations to gain additional diagnostic certainty in the case of heart complaints. If desired, this examination can also be performed as a performance diagnostic (not covered by health insurance).

HIV PRE-EXPOSURE PROPHYLAXIS (PreP) FOR RISK GROUPS

Advice on this, as well as laboratory tests and the prescription of this medication, requires special training (only Dr Gußmann). Consultation hours for this are only on Tuesday afternoons.

ULTRASOUND

In our practice we offer the following ultrasound examinations:

Ultrasound of the abdominal organs (abdominal sonography)

Ultrasound of the kidneys and urinary tract

Ultrasound of the thyroid gland

Heart ultrasound (only Dr. Hylak – not covered by health insurance)

The ultrasound examination usually takes place while lying on your back or side. In contrast to X-rays, for example, ultrasound waves are considered to be absolutely harmless. Apart from the mechanical contact pressure during the examination, it is painless.

An ultrasound gel is used to establish uniform contact between the transducer and the surface of the body. The ultrasound device sends ultrasound waves into the tissue via the transducer. The waves are reflected back from the tissue to the transducer in the doctor’s hand with varying intensity depending on the tissue’s composition, and the image thus calculated is displayed on the monitor.

This examination can quickly provide us with a whole range of valuable information, but in some cases a CT or MRI examination is still indicated – the doctor decides on this.

VACCINATION

In our practice we offer all common vaccinations for Germany and abroad. We are also happy to advise you on travel medicine (not covered by health insurance – please ask your health insurance company before visiting us, the costs for advice and travel vaccinations are usually covered proportionally). Seasonally (October to March) we also vaccinate you against the flu.

Please bring your vaccination card to your appointment.
